Gentle Birth Method

gowri122_lr-232x300“Birth is a function of the whole body …………….. You wouldn’t run a marathon without training. Why would you give birth without being Birth fit?” At Gentle Birth Method we prepare the pelvis in a particular way to facilitate labour and the birthing process. Gentle Birth Movements for Mums to Be is an integral part of this preparation!.”

Birthing “Movements for Mums to Be”

BabyGentle Birth Method “Movements for Mums to Be” have been specially developed with April Pierrot, MSTAT, a senior teacher of Alexander Technique and tutor at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art and Trinity College, Dublin. These movements work by provoking (or re-booting) the body’s natural postural reflexes, which themselves are programmed in at birth. Ten simple movements, designed within the Alexander format, trigger the body’s innate memory of postural reflexes. Done regularly, the movements described here can align the pelvis properly in preparation for labour. In addition, they are intended to stimulate and educate the synergistic movement of the pelvic bones, the connective tissues (ligaments and tendons, muscles and fasciae) and prime the naturally occurring sequence of pelvic movements that occur naturally during labour. Detailed work is done on encouraging a pelvic alignment that will (along with gravity) facilitate the baby’s descent through the birth canal.

Postural Training during Pregnancy

Group and l to l Alexander Sessions

In the hands of a skilled practitioner, an individual’s habitual posture can be transformed significantly, particularly during the later stages of pregnancy when (thanks to the birth hormone relaxin) a mother’s body is very receptive to change.

Alexander Technique can help you prevent or alleviate conditions associated with undue tension and poor posture. These sessions can provide practical support during pregnancy and assist in preparation for childbirth.

At Gentle Birth Method we offer group Alexander sessions, looking at some of the simpler approaches within Alexander Training to carrying the baby, and addressing a Mother’s own postural needs.
We offer 1 to 1 sessions, packages supporting pregnancy and follow up visits to alleviate post partum conditions and prepare the posture for breast feeding. 3 group + five 1 to 1 sessions in a package.
